The SD-WAN Technology Boom Is Here In 2021

The deployment of software-defined wide-area networks is already a reality in the enterprise market. 54.4% of organizations already use this formula and it is expected that within two years this percentage will reach 58.4%.

The deployment of SD-WAN technology is growing in the enterprise market. According to the latest study of more than 2,600 companies in all regions, 54.5% of organizations already use software-defined wide area networks. But that is not all, its adoption is expected to reach 58.4% in the next two years. This demand is being answered by both established suppliers and start-ups that offer competitive solutions and services for the company, either directly or through value-added distributors (VARs) or managed service providers.

What’s more, according to Mike Fratto, research director at Current Analysis, “SD-WAN technology is about to take off in the same way that WAN optimization took off in the mid-2000s. The benefits companies get from it are huge and address a number of critical points that organizations face with remote WAN connectivity and for distributed branch offices. ”

Having a variety of options is beneficial for companies, since, on the one hand, they can satisfy their needs with the capabilities of the product in order to find the solution that best suits their requirements and, on the other, they force suppliers to add or improve the functionalities of their offers. However, offering this variety of options makes competing for enterprise customers and managed service providers more difficult for sellers. Things get complicated as managed service providers are basing their managed SD-WAN services on one or more commercial products and adding value by simplifying the operational lifecycle for product implementation, integrating multiple services, and cost reduction for companies.

“Managed service providers are as important a customer as the end customer enterprise and SD-WAN providers know this. They are emphasizing the integration of their APIs and SDKs and actively working to integrate with service provider portals, OSS, and BSS software, “said Fratto.

Current Analysis SD-WAN product evaluations indicate that there is a very competitive and close market positioning for these solutions. Thus, in this first contact with this business are Cisco IWAN, Nuage Networks Virtualized Network Services, VeloCloud Networks Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN, Versa Networks, and Viptela Secure Extensible Network. Current Analysis will add six more vendors in the second half of 2016. All product reviews are updated every six months.
