Microsoft is increasingly relying on a subscription model for its Office applications. But with Office 2021 things are going in the other direction. Use all Office programs permanently after a one-off payment – this is possible again with the new Office 2021.
For many companies and private individuals, Microsoft Office is one of the most important program suites of all.
This is easy to understand because documents such as offers or invoices are written in Word, lists and tables are edited in Excel, and the emails from all accounts can be retrieved and sent bundled in Outlook.
In order to retain customers more firmly, Microsoft has been offering a cloud and subscription model with Microsoft 365 for several years, which many users strictly reject – I am one of them. In order to address such customers again, the software giant has now released Office 2021.
For the last time, Microsoft offered the buy-once option for Office 2019. Many details about new features for Office 2021 are not yet known.
However, according to the US company, there are a few new features for Office LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) such as a dark mode, dynamic arrays, and an improved search in Excel with XLOOKUP as well as a general improvement inaccessibility on the Program.
It is possible that all of these innovations will also be supported in Office 2021. Microsoft intends to support the purchase version for five years. It is not yet entirely clear when the new Office version will start. No information is yet available on the price either.
